The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded that the child should have a good name and ‘aqeeqah’ on the seventh day after birth.
It is clear from this hadith that it is the special responsibility of the guardian to give ‘aqeeqah to each child and to give them a good name.
But sadly, in the face of the evils of so-called modernity and the influence of Western teachings and civilizations that have alienated Islam, the mentality of Muslims in modern times has deteriorated to such an extent that their sense of Muslim individuality has vanished.Muslims do not feel the need to maintain their religious identity in naming their children.
